All students who participate in Arcadia programs are encouraged to apply for scholarships. On this page we list both external scholarships as well as Arcadia scholarships.

GTV男同基地 need-based SCHOLARSHIPS

Approximately 70% of study abroad students who apply for aid from Arcadia receive some form of award. You may still receive a scholarship from GTV男同基地 even if you already receive aid from your home school. 

Typical awards are as follows:

  • Semester scholarship awards range between $500-2,500 with an average award of $1,300.
  • Summer scholarship awards range between $250-1,000 with an average award of $600. 
  • All students receiving a Pell Grant will be awarded up to $2,500 for semester and full year programs, and up to $1,000 for Summer programs.
  • In addition to FASFA and CSS financial data, GTV男同基地 will consider personal circumstance when reviewing scholarship applications. All students submitting a scholarship application have the option to submit a 300 word essay addressing their personal circumstances.

General Scholarships

BENJAMIN A. GILMAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

In addition to scholarship awards from GTV男同基地, students receiving a Pell Grant may be eligible for this , which provides up to $5,000 for any semester abroad, including summer.

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. To be eligible for the Gilman Program, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship. 

 

GILMAN-MCCAIN SCHOLARSHIP

The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. More information can be found .

In support of the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, a new supplemental award, the STEM Supplemental Award, is available for . It will provide up to $1,000 in additional funds for students conducting STEM-related research abroad as part of their study abroad or international internship program. Students may apply for this supplemental funding as part of the Gilman application.

 

FUND FOR EDUCATION ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP

The offers scholarships to students studying abroad. The foundation has a strong preference for, but is not limited to, students studying a foreign language, participating in an academically rigorous program, attending in a non-traditional destination, and/or representing an under-represented group for education abroad, such as a minority or a community college student. 

 

GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP

PHI KAPPA PHI STUDY ABROAD GRANTS

are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Seventy-five $1,000 grants are awarded each year.

Applicants do not have to be Society members but must attend an institution with an active Phi Kappa Phi chapter. You can view this to see if your institution has a chapter.

 

SARAH JOSEPHINE LANGSTAFF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Going's mission is to help people travel and experience the world. Since 2017, they've helped young travelers get out there and get going. Twice a year, four outstanding students will win $1,500 scholarships toward their upcoming study abroad program.

BEGIRL WORLD SCHOLARSHIPS

beGirl.world is seeking to diversify and change the face of study abroad by offering two worth $2,000 for black female college students. The two scholarship types are as follows:

  • Philly Scholar  – This scholarship is for one black female college student who is from Philadelphia and is enrolled at an accredited Philadelphia college or university.
  • National Scholar – This scholarship is for one black female college student who is enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States of America, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands.   

RAINBOW SIG - RAINBOW SCHOLARSHIP

MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE SCHOLARSHIPS

Students enrolled in four units at Macquarie University are welcomed to apply for this study abroad scholarship which awards recipients up to  AUD$1,000.

UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY SYDNEY STUDY ABROAD EXCELLENCE AWARD

Students with financial need are encouraged to apply for this through the University of Technology, Sydney. Awards are usually AUD$2,000.

 

University of Sydney -  Equity Scholarship

The University of Sydney is proud to partner with the Fund for Education Abroad to offer to students from US partners who are from underrepresented demographics in Study Abroad (First in family, LGBTQ+, First Nations, Women in STEMM, student-athletes). Recipients of this award will be given a full waiver on their housing during their semester program at the University of Sydney, or have the option of a tuition waiver.

Eligibility: Students must be from a US University and be from an underrepresented group in Study Abroad. Please note - recipients of this award will be offered a 20-week rental contract at the Queen Mary Building. A condition of living at the Queen Mary Building is a fully up-to-date vaccination for COVID-19, as approved by the .

AASAP/UK LORD ACTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This is offered to students studying abroad in the United Kingdom for a semester or year.  Eligible students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the value of international education.

 

BUTEX NORTH AMERICAN SCHOLARSHIPS (UNITED KINGDOM)

To be eligible to , you must be studying abroad in the United Kingdom for a semester or year at a . Each scholarship is worth £500 and will be paid once the recipient has arrived and registered at their host university.

 

SOCIETY OF ST. GEORGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Society of St. George provides this funding opportunity for students from the Philadelphia area participating on an Arcadia program in England.  Eligible students must, have English ancestry, financial need and be from the Philadelphia area (usually one of the adjacent counties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Delaware).

 

LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS and political science – JOHN C PHELAN GENERAL COURSE SCHOLARSHIP

Students participating on the LSE program may apply for after they have been admitted to the program. Scholarship awards can be upwards of £20,000. Awards are given primarily on the basis of financial need; though academic merit will also be taken into account. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is June 1.

 

LUARD MORSE SCHOLARSHIPS

UNIVERSITY OF The Arts London

UAL offers four awards of £1,500 for students in Integrated and Semester programs. To be eligible, students must be willing to create social media content and blogs about their experiences as Study Abroad students. Additionally, students must have been accepted onto an integrated or semester Study Abroad program at UAL and be enrolled on an undergraduate degree program outside the UK.

INCLUSIVE IRELAND SCHOLARSHIPS

In collaboration with The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA), Education Ireland is pleased to offer this scholarship in support of students choosing to study abroad in Ireland.

"With a commitment to providing academically rigorous and culturally immersive study abroad experiences for students from all backgrounds and identities, and a strong belief that diversity among our visiting students only serves to enrich our society and our campuses, we are excited to welcome scholars."

    • This merit-based is offered to students studying abroad in the United Kingdom for a semester or year.  Eligible students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the value of international education.
  • The Norman Houston Study Northern Ireland Award
    • This award is designed to support students with the greatest financial need who might not otherwise have the opportunity to study abroad. , students must meet the following criteria:

      • Student must be a USA national, enrolled in a full-time bachelors programme at a USA University or College
      • Student must be in receipt of federal aid. Priority will be given to those in receipt of the Pell Grant.
      • Student must meet QUB’s normal study abroad academic eligibility requirements- minimum GPA of 3.0 or above
      • Student must not have undertaken study abroad previously – this award is designed to facilitate a study abroad experience for a student who has not yet had this opportunity
  • Butex North American Scholarships
    • To be eligible to , you must be studying abroad in the United Kingdom for a semester or year at a . Each scholarship is worth £500 and will be paid once the recipient has arrived and registered at their host university.
  • Luard Morse Scholarships

THE AMY SHYPAILO SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN ABROAD.

This scholarship is a need-based award for US students who wish to apply for the four-week SUISS Creative Writing program or the six-week Text and Context program. This scholarship is awarded to one student annually in honor of 2007 SUISS alumna, Amy Shypailo. Amy cherished her summer in Edinburgh, and this scholarship carries on her memory by helping deserving students have the life-changing experience of studying abroad.

The scholarship will cover, either partially or in-full (based on need), the course and accommodation fees for Creative Writing or Text and Context, with the option of both in-person or online study.

New Zealand

University of Canterbury

University of Canterbury is offering several scholarships of up to NZD $2,000 for students enrolling in a semester program in 2025 through GTV男同基地.

To qualify, applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4 point scale and submit an Arcadia Scholarship Application alongside their completed Arcadia program application.

Please note that New Zealand and Australian citizens or permanent residents are not eligible to apply.

 

Gilman-ENZ Scholarship

Education New Zealand (ENZ) is New Zealand’s government agency for building international education and promoting New Zealand as a study destination. Through their partnership with the U.S. Department of State, ENZ is funding the , a highly selective award for those studying or interning abroad in New Zealand. This partnership sustains a wider effort to support students who have traditionally been underrepresented in study abroad, including those of Native American heritage.
