A downtown-Glasgow experience known for friendliness, flexibility, and innovation
Study abroad in downtown Glasgow at the University of Strathclyde! This internationally ranked technological university is located in the heart of Scotland’s largest and most cosmopolitan city, and features a diverse and walkable experience. There is plenty to enjoy right where you are, with shopping and urban life right at your doorstep. You are also close to rail, bus, and subway links, which provide access to the rest of the city, the UK, and beyond.
University of Strathclyde was established in 1796 as the third largest university in Scotland, and characterized itself from its inception as a “place of useful learning” -- a motto you will still see on University buildings. With over 24,000 students (23% of whom are international, from more than 150 countries), Strathclyde collaborates most notably with the community through the Glasgow City Innovation District, established in 2019.
The Glasgow City Innovation District is an entrepreneurial and innovative hub, anchored by the university, that hosts numerous companies and encourages the development of talent, research, and technology – an application of “useful learning” for the 21st century that combines business with academics. A new sports center, Strathclyde Sport, and many other upgraded facilities are all at your disposal.
The Business School at the University of Strathclyde is triple-accredited by AACSB, EUIS, and AMBA – the first school in Scotland to achieve this distinction.
Engineering is extremely strong at Strathclyde, with numerous areas of engineering specialization. Offerings include Design Manufacturing and Engineering Management – a unique subject not frequently offered elsewhere.
Strathclyde’s Centre for Lifelong Learning offers exciting, credit-bearing courses such as Genealogy, where you can track your family tree; and Stand -Up Comedy, where you can hone your best routine.
